VA tech shooting
Thirty-one people were killed today in a shooting rampage at Virginia Tech, according to university officials, making it the deadliest school shooting incident in U.S. history, "a tragedy of monumental proportions." (CNN.com)

Do not doubt that the National Rifle Association is preparing its "this-had-nothing-to-do-with-guns" press release...

Home
As soon as I saw this Squirrel Hill house in the real estate website, I knew it was gonna be my house.
I wasn't surprised when walking in I really felt like home.

My American mission is done. Cheers! ;)

No faith in women
Yesterday night I was thinking about religion, politics and women.

What the three have to do with each other? Well, I couldn't help but wonder why, when Harvard announced its first female president, Nancy Pelosi was sworn in as the first female speaker of the House of Representative, in Italy Irene Pivetti was President of the Chamber of Deputies from 1994 to 1996. Bigger still, Senator Hillary Clinton is the Democratic front runner for American presidency... I mean, in politics and academia, women are finally getting what hey deserve.
But in the religion ranch... well, this is another story. The Catholic Church, who is the world's bigger Christian organization still hasn't ordained one female priest... I'm not talking about bishops or cardinal, I'm saying one damn priest! And if I have to guess it won't take Ratzinger to change that.
Looks like the gender is really an issue and the world of religion seems to be stuck in the past and still listen to St. Paul in the New Testament wrote in the first century: "Let a woman learn in silence with all submissiveness. I permit no woman to teach or to have authority over men, she is to keep silence" (2:11-12).

Well, but we are 20 centuries ahead... Hello???

An evening with Pete Doherty

Peter Doherty may be a junkie and a British tabloids doormat for his troubles but he's a damn talented musician and poet.
I just love him since The Libertines ages and I was very upset for this shameful London street poster distributed by from an anti-drug association. Show some respect for God's sake!
At the Hackney Empire Theater on April 11th and 12th Doherty will read poetry and writings from his journal and his prison diaries and he'll be supported by other poets and musicians in an acoustic show called "An Evening with Pete Doherty".

I'm gonna be in America for almost a month buying a new house and I can't be there for sure, but I suggest, if you feel like going to London next week, don't miss him, he's just genius!

Like we needed his comments...
An Inconvenient Truth won two Oscars last month.

"
It's a very good documentary ' said Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio about Davis Guggenheim's movie with Al Gore being awarded two academy awards. The Italian Environment Ministry decided to celebrate its 20 years organizing the Italian premiere of the movie acknowledging its topicality and the importance of its contents, "I would like this movie can be distributed in Italian schools and be a prime time show on public TV, relaunching the debate on climate change." Sure, he's so desperately concerned about environment but still against nuclear energy, a clean air energy, in his Country and prefers to buy it from France, the idiot.

Talking about idiots...
I saw the film, was really good and I think Gore was more inspired and did better job as a presenter of this documentary than he did with election debates. At least now I know he's not completely an idiot... I mean, losing to Bush is hard, I still not believe how he could have done it! :-)

Pornoromantica - Carolina Cutolo
Well, well, she did it!

From March 30th you can find her book on the shelves of any Italian bookstore.
I recommend it even I haven't read it yet, because of her blog, that can give you more than a clue on this book, and because, after all, she's my friend.
I'm gonna buy it in Milan for Easter and read it while in America. I know it's gonna be a smash!

Way to go, girl! :-)
